CC Town Planning are thrilled to announce that after a drawn-out process, Prior Approval has been granted by the Planning Inspectorate for the conversion of vacant commercial space within the upper floors of the former Peter Crisp Department Store in Rushden to create a total of 14 flats comprising a mix of one- and two-bedroom properties.
The upper floors within this building have been vacant since the closure of the Department Store back in 2009. As such, this approval marks a significant step forward in bringing this underutilised space back into viable use. The scheme will also provide a positive contribution to housing delivery targets across North Northamptonshire whilst offering a fresh lease of life to a prominent and well-known town centre site.
The redevelopment of this site will also play a key role in the wider regeneration of Rushden’s town centre. This is a great example of how well-planned redevelopment can breathe new life into an area whilst continuing to respect local history. This has been a lengthy and thorough process, but we are pleased to have secured such a positive outcome for our client.
A big thank you to the team involved, including MSquare Architects. We are now looking forward to seeing the transformation of this landmark site into a vibrant residential development.
